Bandipora, Sep 03 (KNO): The Bandipora district administration on Wednesday issued a weather advisory, cautioning residents about the likelihood of rising water levels in Wular Lake and adjoining streams due to incessant rainfall across the Valley. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that people living in low-lying and vulnerable areas near water bodies have been advised to exercise utmost caution and take necessary safety measures. The administration has urged residents to avoid venturing close to streams, rivers, or Wular Lake banks, refrain from crossing inundated roads, bridges or footpaths, and secure important belongings at safe heights. People have also been asked to remain alert to changing water levels and cooperate with district authorities and disaster management teams. Since schools and colleges have been closed for the day, parents have been requested to ensure that children remain indoors and do not venture out during the prevailing weather conditions. “The public is urged to remain vigilant and prioritize safety until the situation improves,” the advisory stated—(KNO)
